Photodom NYC, one of New York City’s only Black-owned camera stores, has officially reopened in a brand-new, 1,600 sq ft creative space in Brooklyn.
What started as a 400 sq ft walk-up has now grown into a full-scale analog photography hub, gallery, and retail destination. But Photodom is more than just a camera store.
"We're not just a camera store… we're a community," Ianko, Marketing Manager at Photodom NYC.
Founded in 2020 by Dominick Lewis, Photodom was built from the ground up with the support of its community.. Through a successful GoFundMe campaign, the team raised over $35k in funds to open their original space, making history as one of the few Black-owned camera shops in New York.
Since then, Photodom has served thousands of creatives and photography lovers alike with:
Film developing and scanning
Curated gear and camera accessories
Workshops, events, and a gallery wall showcasing local photographers and emerging talent.
With the expanded space, Photodom is doubling down on its mission: not just to keep film alive, but to build a space where culture, creativity, and Black ownership thrive together. Whether you're a beginner, a pro, or just film-curious, the new location offers room to explore, learn, and connect, all while making analog photography more accessible to a creative community often overlooked in traditional photo retail spaces.
