Welcome to The Neighborhood by Blakawout Studios — a discovery and media platform amplifying Black diaspora through media coverage, digital tools to increase brand recognition, visibility and engagement.

​

By participating in this platform, you agree to the following terms and guidelines, which are designed to protect your rights, clarify responsibilities, and support a thriving community.

​

1. Eligibility

To be listed, your business must meet the following:

• Your business is at least 51% owned by individuals of the Black diaspora (including African-American, Haitian, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latinx, and other people of African descent).

• Your business maintains an active online presence or operates within New York State.

We currently prioritize brick-and-mortar locations, service-based businesses, and online businesses in fashion, beauty, food, and more — including salons, wellness spaces, creatives, retail shops, and cultural venues.

Additional information may be requested to confirm eligibility or alignment with our mission.

1. Content Usage & Ownership

When you submit photos, logos, event descriptions, or other materials:

• You grant Blakawout Studios permission to use these for promotional purposes across our social media, newsletters, blogs, and other public-facing content.

• You retain ownership of your content and can request removal at any time.

• Blakawout Studios retains ownership of original content we create on your behalf (graphics, marketing copy, etc.). Removal requests for images and content directly related to your business should be submitted by email at [blakawoutassistant@gmail.com]. We will honor your removal requests specifically related to your business. 

• By using the platform you agree to let us use your business name and/or logo as part of our marketing materials.  Example: We might say, “Find businesses like {Your Business Name} on The Neighborhood/Blakawout Studios".

2. Fees & Listing Access

Businesses can join The Neighborhood and be featured in our directory for a one-time setup fee of $19.99.

Starting in Q1 2026, The Neighborhood will introduce subscription plans. For full profile & price. Please see Business Profile & Pricing Plans tab.

Payment Terms

• All fees are non-refundable.

• Users may cancel their subscription at any time via the website or by contacting us; cancellation takes effect promptly.

• No refunds or credits will be issued for partial billing periods or unused services.

3. Respectful Participation

You agree to:

• Submit truthful and accurate information

• Respect the mission and tone of the platform

• Only submit materials and listings you’re authorized to share

We reserve the right to remove listings or content that violate these guidelines.

4. Liability Disclaimer

Blakawout Studios provides a promotional platform only and does not serve as co-owner, legal partner, manager, or co-host of your business or event and we do not endorse any of the business or products listed on the platform.

By being listed:

• You acknowledge that you are solely responsible for your information, event, venue, customer experience, and any outcomes that occur.

• You agree to indemnify, defend and hold Blakawout Studios harmless from any claims, liabilities, or disputes arising from content posted on the promotional platform, your products, operations or interactions with customers referred by the platform or you’re in breach of these terms.

5. Business Responsibility & Compliance

As a participating business or event host, you agree to maintain a safe, lawful, and respectful environment for customers and attendees and to provide truthful and complete information on the promotional platform.

By being listed on The Neighborhood/Blakawout Studios:

• You confirm that you have the proper tools, supplies, and safety measures in place to operate your business or host your event. You will be solely responsible for the products and services you provide.

  • This includes required licenses, insurance, and access to any necessary medications or first aid materials (e.g., EpiPens, gloves, sanitizers, first-aid kits etc.) based on the nature of your services as required by any local, state, or federal regulations that apply to your industry.

• If your listing includes a physical location (e.g., venue, retail space, studio, etc.), you are responsible for maintaining safe, accessible, and legally compliant premises for all guests and customers. Blakawout Studios does not inspect physical sites and assumes no liability for the conditions or safety of your space.

• You warrant any content shared on the platform does not infringe on their party rights and complies with state laws and regulations. 

• Your content will not imply Blakawout Studios/Neighborhood endorses your products or services. 

• The Neighborhood/Blakawout Studios is not responsible for ensuring your business is compliant with these standards, and we reserve the right to remove listings that appear to pose a safety or legal risk or otherwise not compliant with these terms or for any reason or no reason. 

• The Neighborhood / Blakawout Studios lists and promotes businesses and events within the United States provided that meet our eligibility criteria are limited to those hosted within the United States only.

• All disputes or legal matters related to the platform will be governed by the laws of the State of New York (without regard to the conflict of law provisions).

7. Platform Termination & Modifications

Right to Modify or Terminate the Platform
Blakawout Studios reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the platform — in whole or in part — at any time, including the end of the beta phase.

If we decide to terminate the platform or any listing services, we will provide users with at least 30 days’ notice via email or website announcement.

Users agree that Blakawout Studios shall not be liable for any damages or losses or refunds resulting from modification or termination of the platform.

8. Curation & Approval Rights

Blakawout Studios reserves the right to approve or deny any business or event submission, and to remove or refuse promotion of listings that do not align with our mission, values, or content standards. This may include—but is not limited to—businesses that:

• Do not meet our cultural or eligibility criteria

• Promote discriminatory, exploitative, or harmful practices

• Appear to misrepresent their ownership, services, or audience

We reserve the rights to remove any business listing, events that breach our terms for any reason or no reason

9. Modifications & Updates to This Policy

We may update these terms from time to time and your continued participation means you agree to the updated terms. We may update our eligibility, verification, and listing criteria at any time. Continued use of the platform constitutes agreement to the updated terms.

10. Proprietary Information

All content, design, technology, and materials on The Neighborhood by Blakawout Studios website are proprietary and owned by us. Users are strictly prohibited from:

• Creating any derivative platform or product based on our website or content.

• Copying, removing, or sharing any proprietary information or materials from our site.

• Using content from the platform unrelated to their own business listings or purposes without explicit permission.
   

Any unauthorized use of proprietary information may result in legal action.
