The evening started with a powerful statement from Kayla Greaves, the event's MC, who perfectly captured the night's essence: "Look at what immigration did for New York City." Her words set the tone for a celebration of the Caribbean diaspora's contributions, not just to the city's growth but to its identity. It was a moment that highlighted how Caribbean immigrants continue to shape New York into the global cultural hub it is today.

Dr. Nicole Grimes, founder of Carib Biz Network, closed the evening with a call for unity and mutual support. She encouraged attendees to connect, continue learning, and support one Caribbean brand each month, reminding everyone that when we come together, we rise together.
To close out, I’ll leave you with this Jamaican proverb, which Terese Brown - Fashion + Design Ambassador of the Year, mentioned in her acceptance speech: “We likkle but we tallawah.” Her words reminded everyone that even when we are small in number, we are mighty in strength, influence, and potential—a powerful testament to the resilience of the Caribbean community.
